Channel Nine’s new factual lifestyle TV show “Money For Jam” premiered last night, and featured an Aussie invention that was just so much fun, it deserved a mention here.

One of the segments featured a guy who turned his love of beer (a great Aussie pasttime) into a fully fledged business!

Tanked Drinkwear is a new clothing product range designed for the drinking enthusiast

The clothing incorporates a built-in twist top bottle opener into the mens and womens tops and shorts.

The hats also have a twist top/ pop top bottle opener built into them.

And the shorts even include a tear-off stubbie cooler cleverly disguised as a pocket!

Really… What more could a man want? and almost in time for Father’s day this weekend…

Money For Jam also features some “easy” ways to make and/or save money… Last night, the amount of money they showed that can be saved on lunches was astronomical, and great food for thought!

Watch it, Wednesday nights at 8.00pm

A few days ago the Australian Government announced it was offering Advertising agencies a “prize” of twenty million dollars to come up with a new “brand” to sell Australia overseas… and not just for tourism!

The new “Brand Australia” advertising campaign is designed to ensure continued interest in Australia not only as a tourist destination, but as a place to live, a place to invest in, etc… pretty “big picture” stuff.

Some of the interesting campaigns we’ve had:

football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars. Remember THAT campaign? If you do, then you must be starting to show your age

Paul Hogan and his “put another shrimp on the barbie”,

Kylie Minogue - our Queen of music and still a great ambassador O/S,

and more recently Lara Bingle… the “Where the bloody hell are ya?” campaign was apparently a huge flop and even banned in a few overseas countries

So waddyareckon is gonna help sell Australia overseas?

Coincidence or not??? One thing I’ve noticed a lot more in the last few days has been this new Qantas “I still call Australia home” commercial!

Does that move you? Is it the sort of thing you think could help sell Australia overseas?

Remember… it’s NOT just about people and places… you’ve got to include education, investment and trade to keep the Government happy and secure your $20million.

Let us know below…

The Australian Federal Government’s Energy Efficient Homes Package is in full swing now and runs right through to middle/end of 2011. It’s subsidising the cost of installing ceiling insulation in up to 2.9 million homes across Australia.

The rebates through this scheme are worth up to <strike>$1600</strike> $1200 (changed from 1st November 2009) for eligible owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants (it even includes holiday homes), who want to install new ceiling insulation in up to 2.9 million homes across the country that are currently uninsulated, or have very little ceiling insulation.

The Australian Government estimates that up to 40 per cent of Australian homes are not insulated, which is why they are investing $4 billion in this package to improve the energy efficiency of Australian homes (as part of their $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan).

Now… if your place doesn’t have ceiling insulation installed, you’ve simply got to understand that it’s gonna be a LOT colder in winter, and a lot hotter in summer than it really needs to be!

Ceiling insulation alone has the potential to cut your home heating and cooling bills by up to $200 a year. The actual cost savings depend on the construction of your home, its location and your overall energy consumption patterns.

Insulation can also reduce condensation on your walls and ceilings, leading to improved health outcomes for you and your family!

And since this government rebate will cover the purchase and installation costs in most cases…

Sounds like some very good reasons to have it done if you ask me!

Oh….

If you’re on the mid north coast of NSW, then check out North Coast Insulations to get your free ceiling insulation installed!

They are a registered installer under this scheme, and cover the area between Buladelah, Forster, Taree, Laurieton, Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Telegraph Point & Kempsey, up to Scott’s Head!

So check them out and see if you are eligible for this rebate!

It’s the time of year that Queenslander’s dread (sorry) when us southerners adjust our clocks and have an extra hour of daylight up our sleeves.

And to make it worse (for them), it’s starting earlier and finishing later than ever before!

In the ACT, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, daylight savings begins this coming weekend, at 2.00am EST on Sunday October 5th. And this time, it goes right through to 3.00am on Sunday 5 April 2009.

In Western Australia, they begin their 3rd and final “trial” year of daylight savings on 26th October, and it ends for them at 3.00am on Sunday 29th March 2009.

If, like me, you have difficulty remembering whether the clocks go forward or back, then just remember this little gem!

Spring forward… (clocks go forward)
Fall (as in Autumn) back. (clocks go back)

And you’ll never be lost for time again!

That is… unless you live in Queensland or the Northern Territory… but you guys get enough sun up there, so you really don’t want any more!!!

Aussies apparently lead the way in turning water into energy which, considering most our our “lucky country” is desert, is just a little strange…

I was surprised to learn that University of Queensland researchers have been able to turn dirty dishwater into electricity [1] since 2005, and even more amazed to hear they’ve found a way to make power from beer [2] of all things.

Prince Charles recently hit the news with reports of having his 38 year old Aston Martin converted to run on wine [3] It’s funny trying to imagine bottles of Bollinger being poured into his gas tank, but he actually uses the “leftover” wine from a nearby winery and converts it to bio-fuel.

We’ve been looking at alternate ways to power our motor vehicles since, well… forever… but when the price of gas hits all time highs as it has done recently… it should come at no surprise that you can now very easily convert your car to run on water (either completely, or partly).

Yes - seriously — WATER!

Apparently… water can burn (quite well actually - even better than gasoline)!

And with a few items that can be picked up from a local hardware or auto supply shop for under $200, anyone can convert their car to run on water!

These HHO water fuel kits can be used to vastly increase the fuel economy of petrol or diesel powered vehicles (yes - cars AND big trucks as well!)

And just a couple of litres of water lasts for ages and can result in increases of up to 75% in your fuel economy - so there’s some great savings to be made there if you do a fair bit of driving!

So… start saving some money on gas right now!

Check out this highly recommended link to some really great information about what you need to do to install water fuel cell systems in your car!

Convert Your Car To Burn Water + Gasoline = Double Your Mileage! — Totally comprehensive $97 product with tech support, and permission to use their device to set yourself up in business!

VERY IMPORTANT: This product comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee, so if you can’t make heads of tails out of any of it, then there’s absolutely no risk for you!

Heck, with interest rates going through the roof… and the cost of living skyrocketing because of increased petrol prices… this is one area where you CAN take control and bite back!

Convert your car to run on water… and make some pretty good savings as well! It’s a much cheaper option than buying a brand new hybrid vehicle to do your bit for the environment!

Oh… and there’s a great new home employment opportunity happening here… All around the world, savvy people are setting themselves up in business and doing the conversions for those of us who aren’t mechanically minded!

Check out this video which shows the “ultimate” - a car running completely on water - with no petrol at all! You’ll even see water burning… something only an Aussie could think of

But you know… all of this water powered stuff is NOT new technology Kiwi Steve Ryan (not quite an Aussie, but our close neighbour) was on 60 Minutes in 2005 with his motorcycle that runs only on water!

And way back in the early 1990’s, in an American TV news report, Stan Meyer demonstrated a 4 cylinder dune buggy using only water as fuel.

It seems we’ll be chasing alternate fuel sources forever… and whether one of them ever becomes mainstream… well that’ll probably be up to the oil companies, once they’ve made as much money as they can from their main polluting fossil fuel based products!

Interesting Fact: Apparently HHO Gas (or Brown’s Gas) is a water fuel technology that’s been around for over 90 years! Hmmmm…. makes me wonder just who has been suppressing this technology???
